As Fashion’s Tweetheart it was definitely refreshing to see all my tweeples tweeting last night about what I will coin as “the greatest sitcom comeback of all time”. If you missed the fun check twitters hashtags #GameOn and #TheGame for a full recap. Hopefully you are familiar with the series but if you don’t know the back story of The Game let me get you up to date.
The sitcom lasted for 3 seasons on the CW and was abruptly cancelled. After numerous viewer petitions and countless phone calls The Game is on officially thanks to BET. Viewers and I have anticipated the premiere since word leaked on the blogosphere that the series had been picked up by the network. Over the holidays BET so graciously aired every single episode for those who wanted to catch up or wanted to relive the drama. I give props to BET and their PR folks. Between tweeting, the Facebook fan page, the promo videos, and the premiere parties the hype was created. 7.7 million Viewers (as reported by mutichannel.com) confirm that the hype was warranted.
SPOLIER ALERT: I wasn’t thrilled when I learned that the show would pick up 2 years later but I will say I wasn’t disappointed with how things have changed. Derwin is now the superstar of the football team, and Melanie has had a glam makeover in order to take her wifey roll more serious and she also dropped her “med school” title. Tasha Mack is now managing Derwin and dating a younger man played by Terrence J of 106&Park, Malik has transformed into a full fledged pro-a**hole, and Tee Tee is … well ... trying to grow some b*lls, but just ain’t there yet. Jason is now pitching himself to be a sportscaster and recently divorced Kelly who is the new cheerleader for herself and her new reality show Ex-Baller Wives (not to be confused with any of the current series Basketball Wives, Football Wives, or Real Housewives where no one is a wife).
But the most notable change is the new styles and beauty looks of two characters, Melanie and Kelly. With their transformations Melanie is glammed out, wearing more designer labels, haute new hair color, and sporting the new lip color of the season – red. Kelly’s hair is beyond fierce. I have no words for how fierce her hair is. It’s absolutely gorgeous! This dramatic cut screams “I’m divorced, and spending all his money”.
For the most part I enjoyed the show and I looking forward to what this season will reveal. I am curious to know your thoughts. Did you love it, hate it, or couldn’t be bothered? Leave me a comment below!
P.S. Cross your fingers and toes, I’ve requested interviews with the stylist and beauty folks. I want the scoop on all this newness!!
Overall I enjoyed the new season and will tune in, but I am a little nostalgic for the way the show was previously. But I'm happy the show is back and it may be the one time in the week I tune in to BET because it's a channel I rarely watch.
ReplyDeleteI finally seen it yesterday and wow I was def entertained.
ReplyDeleteMy only qualms came with Kelly's new attitude (hated it) and how ghetto they were trying to make Tasha Mack ( a black & mild--REALLY?!?!) ohh and that strange brit brat.
I excited for the season DEF!
OK so I am sooooooo glad you wrote this post.
ReplyDeleteI am with lostluv. What the heck is with Kelly's attitude? It's not cute and if I recall correctly, she wanted Jason back BAD.
I don't like that the show fast forwarded 2 years either. I would have liked to see some transition.
Melanie's hair is definitely hot. Is it real? I don't think so. It was really short but then again she always had long hair. Maybe it grew.
I HATE Kelly's hair. I'm sorry she looks cheap to me. I don't like the clothes either.
All in all I do give the show a 4 out of 5 because I like how Tee Tee is beginning to man up LOL.
Did you see the show that came on afterwards? I surprisingly liked it. (the name escapes me)
The new show is called "Lets Stay Together". I couldn't quite get into it. I will try again next Tuesday. But they did get 4.4 million viewrs that evening, so congrats to them too.
